Misita Designs has had some really nice paper-and-ink attention this year. It’s appeared in two different local publications, namely “Our Louisiana” magazine and “Natchez the Magazine.” In the first, Misita Designs won the magazine’s Sonata Award in the Architectural Elements category. “Our Louisiana” accepts submissions from all over their state, then selects winners in several different design categories.  This recognition was very gratifying, especially considering this category was not limited to metalwork, but included work in all types of materials and applications.  The judges really liked the custom stainless steel handrails Joel did for a homeowner in Madisonville, Louisiana (see spread below).  To see more photos of these award-winning handrails, visit http://www.behance.net/gallery/Custom-Stainless-Steel-Handrails/2642983.  Thanks, “Our Louisiana”!

“Natchez the Magazine” features a different local artist in each issue, and did a story on Joel this past spring.  The article includes pictures of Joel’s workshop, a copper stockpot, a wrought iron and copper light fixture, custom copper venthood, and decorative copper leaves.  It talks about Joel’s background, and the background of Misita Designs as a custom metalwork source. It devotes some space to his creative process and discusses how the work is a product of the work of Joel’s mind as well as his hands. Misita Designs’ custom work is available on a commissioned basis, and it all starts with an inquiry.  See more photos of his featured metalwork at http://www.misitadesigns.com/, and at http://www.behance.net/portfolio/projects.
